After the big decision, Casey Stoner made at the MotoGP mid-season to take a break to recover from his illness he was very delighted to be back on podium again on Sunday.
It is really amazing to see him in such great and competitive performance in his first GP appearance in two months. His great performance over the 28-lap race at the challenging Estoril track proofed that he had taking the right decision to take a mod-season rest in order to recover from his illness. At the time being he earned a lot of criticism for his decision he had to make. Vheck the video by clicking on post.Talking to motogp.com Stoner stated,
“There was a lot of criticism of my decision to stop but people need to understand that if you are not competitive and you are getting worse every race there is no sense to just keep going. You have to stop, find the problem and fix it. So to come back like this and be more competitive than I have been in a long, long time it was a really good feeling. In the last five races I rode I was putting in so much effort and still slowing down at the end of the races, so today it was nice to be able to relax towards the end and still do a good lap time. I was nervous again today and I haven’t been nervous for a long time, so it is nice to be here again on the podium.”
There are 3 more races to go and Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda Team) is only 3 points ahead of Stoner, the end of the ’09 MotoGP season stays exciting until the last race. I’m sure that with the upcoming Australia GP, Stoner will push his limits even further.
