Ambition is more than the talent these were the words from Casey Stoner to Valentino Rossi when they shook hands in the Repsol Honda garage after the race in which Valentino took Casey down in lap 8 of 27 at the Jerez MotoGP. Valentino apologize for his massive mistake he did and booth seemed to be fine later.

For sure there are many reasons for Stoner to be pissed about Rossis manoeuvre as he had been second place and good chance for the podium. But also Rossi was in good place and with the potential to win or get on the podium he took his chance.

As this is just the beginning of the 2011 MotoGP season I’m sure we will see many more battles like this as the competitors are really close together this season. I’m glad it wasn’t a very bad crash and both riders are fine. For Rossi it was still a good result to finish fifth and get some important points for the championship. A lucky winner in the rain of Spain was Nicky Hayden which took the first Ducati podium for 2011 with his 3rd place. This brings him in the GP standings into fourth place and ahead of team mate Rossi. Still, Casey is with a total of 25 points 2 points ahead of Nicky and 5 of Valentino.

Next stop will be the Grand Prix at Jerez de La Frontera in Spain.
