The Epic Split

Jean-Claude Van Damme is known for his splits. I’m pretty sure that this one will become the most legendary in history. JCVD shows it between two reversing trucks in a stunning sunset environment. The spot was created for a series of spots for Volvo by the Swedish agency Forsman & Bodenfors from Stockholm. The spot was set up to demonstrate the stability and precision of Volvo Dynamic Steering. JCVD says it’s the most epic of splits. I also think it’s the most epic “Truck” spot ever.

The Road From Karakol

In summer 2011, Outdoor Research athlete Kyle Dempster took off on his bike across Kyrgyzstan with a couple mostly-accurate maps, a trailer full of climbing gear, and a vocabulary of 10 Kyrgyz words. He spent two months pedaling and pushing the bike more than 1200 km on roads of variable states of neglect, wading through wild rivers, dealing with corrupt military checkpoint staff, and soloing a handful of unclimbed alpine rock and mixed routes. He recorded the journey, his camera his only partner, friend, and sometimes the only receiving end of his conversations for days at a time.
In 2013, Kyle’s self-shot footage of his journey in Kyrgyzstan made it to the desk of filmmakers Fitz Cahall and Austin Siadak, who were asked to look at the footage and see if there might be enough to chop together a 4-minute climbing film. They saw a lot more potential in it, and turned it into the 25-minute “The Road From Karakol,” which debuted at the 5Point Film Festival and took home the Best In Fest award.

Into The Mind

Yes! Out now on iTunes and a must see if you like stunning cinematography and groundbreaking storytelling techniques. After “All I can” this is the second movie from Sherpas Cinema. Can’t wait to watch it tonight.

The final statement of the proof

It’s “Happy Easter Time” and while people finding colorful eggs and sweets around the room I find some funny eye candy in some old data universe while still cleaning up my old hard drives.
I found this rare master piece of my hidden gymnastic talent today. It’s filmed at one of my last championships of my career as an gymnast. It was the first championship I attend after a full stop for 2 years. A  training camp brought me back in shape until I broke my face 3 weeks later during the qualifying for the German masters. Since then I like watching 🙂
